The Mitterdorf Ski Centre is sometimes referred to as "the glacier in the Bavarian Forest". It is located in Germany on the slopes of the Almberg mountain with a peak at 1,139 m above sea level and thanks to the specific climate and snow cannons you will find great snow conditions from Christmas until March. The resort is especially suitable for families with children and beginner skiers. There are 4 anchor lifts and one rope lift, 4 moving belts and a two-seater chairlift with a total transport capacity of 10,000 people per hour. You can ski on easy, medium and one black slope with FIS parameters. The total length of the slopes is 6 km and due to the width of up to 100 m, they are perfect for carving skiing.
A total of 23 km of trails are groomed for cross-country skiers and hikers. There is also a toboggan and bobsled run with a roofed track, ski school, service, equipment rental, ski storage and an information centre with a warming room. Children will have a blast at the Junior-Ski-Zirkus, where children from the age of two are looked after all day long. Parking on site is free. There are also snack bars, restaurants and a convenience store in the village.
The Mitterdorf ski resort is located directly in the village of Mitterfirmiansreut, 26 km west of Volary and close to the Czech-German border. It takes less than half an hour to get there from Volary by car (if the road is passable) via Lenora and the Strážný border crossing.
